WE BELIEVE

1.  WE BELIEVE in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

 2.  WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; God manifested in the flesh. He is very God of very God.  He is the only Savior of the world, the only door into heaven for mankind.  He was born of the virgin Mary and sacrificed his life as the perfect Lamb of God to pay for our sins.

3.  WE BELIEVE that God created many angels and that the greatest of these, Lucifier, rebelled against God.  He was cast from God’s presence onto earth, where his demons still are the source of human misery to this day.

4.   WE BELIEVE that after the creation of this world God created man in his own image.  Adam and Eve had ideal fellowship with God until their disobedience brought sin upon all of mankind.  God has been reaching out to us ever since to restore us to fellowship with himself.

5.  WE BELIEVE being restored to our rightful relationship with our Heavenly Father is accomplished only by personally accepting the atoning work of Jesus Christ.  Jesus died for our sins, and that is the only sacrifice that can restore us to our Heavenly Father.

6.  WE BELIEVE in the personal bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and his ascension into heaven where he intercedes for us.  From whence, at a time known only to the Father, he will return and resurrect the the righteous who are presently in a state of sleep (dead) and take all those who truly know him with him to that place he has prepared for us.  We believe that at the judgment the righteous will pass into God’s presence and the unrighteous are assigned to the Lake of Fire. We believe that we are presently in the Church Age, which others may believe is a literal millennial  reign.  Christ’s return will end the Church Age, the millennium.

7.  WE BELIEVE the Bible is the inspired inerrant Word of God.  It is the only dependable source for our knowledge of God.  We believe it is important to always study the Bible with the purpose in mind to know God better.  The Bible should be taken literally where it is literal, and it should be taken as metaphor where it is obviously metaphorical.  We accept as the inspired canon of scripture those books accepted by Dr. Martin Luther, which constitute what is commonly known as the (Protestant) Holy Bible.  The Holy Bible is to be our standard of life, our bread of life and our guide in all things, personally and in the life of the church (universal and local).

8.   WE BELIEVE in the church as the universal Body of Christ.  We do not accept that any one man is (or ever was intended to be) the head of the church.  Jesus Christ is the only head of the church.

9.  WE BELIEVE that membership in the universal body of Christ is by  grace through faith alone, in the finished work of Christ, a gift of God, not of works.  The children of God are justified by faith in Christ alone, making them righteous in God’s sight.

10.   WE BELIEVE every individual is in need of salvation.  That salvation is in Christ alone.  It is by God’s grace alone that anyone can be saved.  Since God’s grace is a free gift, we believe that this gift is imparted even to infants as the word of God is proclaimed over them in baptism.

11.  WE BELIEVE there are two sacraments to be administered by the church, as defined by Dr. Martin Luther.  Baptism is the first sacrament which a person needs only once.  The other sacrament is Holy Communion, which we administer regularly, at least in every Divine Worship service.  We believe that the true presence of  Christ is in, with and under the elements as we take them.  We believe we are therefore renewed by once again embracing God’s forgiveness in the elements of Christ’s sacrifice.

12.  WE BELIEVE God our heavenly Father is the only one to whom we should pray, in Christ’s name.

13.  WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the only one who was ever born out of  an immaculate conception.

14.  WE BELIEVE it is important to honor history and heritage.  Therefore we hold to the three ancient ecumenical creeds of the church and stay with the doctrinal interpretations of the Book of  Concord.  We do not believe it is healthy to follow after ever new doctrine that comes along.  Not everything is improved because it is new, and there is very little that  is new in terms of Biblical doctrine.  We are an historical church, with our roots planted almost 500 years ago, but we want to be on the cutting edge of  anything that will expand God’s kingdom, while maintaining doctrinal integrity.

15.  WE BELIEVE the only legitimate, healthy intimate relationship pleasing to God is between one man and one woman.  God loves the sinner, but hates the sin.  Homosexuality is unequivocally a sin displeasing to God.  God does forgive this sin when it is repented of.  When it is not repented of, it is an abomination.  We pray for the homosexual to know God’s pure love.

16.   WE BELIEVE all life is a gift of God, beginning at conception, and to purposefully end that life before birth is nothing less than murder. We do not have the right to judge the quality or legitimacy of an unborn child. Abortion is an abomination.  God does forgive this sin when it is repented of - but repent the abortionist must.  May God have mercy.

WE BELIEVE in salvation by grace alone,

through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in the Word alone.
