A Word from the Pastor

We light candles to remember those who worshipped in the catacombs by candlelight; we kneel in reverence, as did the Wise Men; we take Holy Communion, acknowleging the True Presence of Christ in our midst; we read scripture aloud, for the Apostle Paul told us to do so publicly; we confess the Nicene Creed, following the example of the Church for over 1600 years; we sing, for scripture says that we are to enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; and as Christians have done for centuries, we make the sign of the cross, an ancient nonverbal confession of our faith.

Our Lessons of the Day each week come from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship book.

Our Divine worship service is patterned after the example formerly known as the Common Service, with roots in the Reformation, the Middle Ages, and the early Church.  The Common Service becaame the standard English Liturgy for the Lutheran Church in America in the late 19th century.

However, we also seek to incorporate music and singing which is easily followed by all present, so that God is glorified and th worshippers are edified.
